Gjorgji Kostovski was born in 1978 in Kriva Palanka. He holds a degree in Art History. During his studies, he developed an interest for photography as a means of expression, allowing him to do experimentations with long-exposure. His style was formed before he learned more about the technical part of photography. In his early period, the atmosphere of his photographs was gloomy and dark, presenting the cries of lonely and powerless human beings. In the meantime, he started photographing cultural events professionally, such as music and theater festivals. All of his works have something in common which are the dark gamma and the use of contrast and color, all giving out a mystique air. This goes in line with his personal attitude towards photography according to which art must not mirror reality. It has to be layered with the intention of dragging us deep into thought and feeling.
